Sketch Night

Today we embarked on the second half of our residency orientation, led by Jennifer Menken.  This time we were over at the scientific collections at the University of Minnesota’s Ecology building.  We got to handle a narwhal tusk(!), page through fern pressings and found this awesome index of North American tree wood samples.

Our first day of orientation for the artist residency was very inspiring.  We spent four hours peeking into the nooks and crannies of the museum and in zesty conversation with Curator of Exhibitions, Don Luce - though could have spent days!  Aaron Westre, Ashley Monk and myself are lead artists from Minneapolis Art on Wheels, a roving collection of artists who specialize in participatory urban video projection.  Friend-of-MAW and History of Science professor Mark Borello will participate as our adviser and collaborator.
